RLMC staff report

As restrictions on crossing the Canadian border ease, Rainy Lake Medical Center staff continue to receive questions about how to a get COVID-19 test prior to entering the country.

While RLMC officials encourage travelers to complete their COVID-19 tests before leaving home, staff has released information about how RLMC can assist people in crossing the border, keeping in mind ill and surgical patients will receive testing priority.

“We advise anyone from outside the area who may be traveling through, to get tested prior to arriving in International Falls,” said Mickie Olson, RLMC marketing director, adding there is a 72-hour leeway for providing a negative test.

COVID testing appointments must be made 24 hours in advance by calling 1-218-598-5158. Tests are conducted at a designated site, 1580 Highway 71. No walk-in services are available.

RLMC offers limited tests from noon to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
